Singer-songwriter Giveon started making waves in 2020 upon being featured in Drake’s smashing hit, “Chicago Freestyle.” The song made its way into the Billboard Hot 100. In the same year, Giveon released his breakout single, “Heartbreak Anniversary,” which peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song earned six time platinum status in the US, making it Giveon’s biggest hit of his career. In 2021, Giveon collaborated with Justin Bieber, for the single “Peaches.” Another commercial success, the song gained Giveon plenty of traction. That same year, he received his first string of Grammy nominations, including a nomination for Best R&B Song for “Heartbreak Anniversary.” Giveon also won Best New Artist at the BET Awards. The following year, he won Best New Artist at the iHeart Radio Music Awards.
